Day 6 - The Last Day Of A Blessed Year

December 31, 2010
Day 6 - The Last Day Of A Blessed Year
The last day of another wonderful and blessed a year in my life. This morning when I woke up, I spent about an hour reading my bible and going over how much I have been blessed with. The past two years of my life have certainly been some of the hardest and I am so grateful that I had to go through some of the lessons that I did. If I didn't go through them, how would I have ever come upon this wonderful experience here in Haiti. I am a true testament of God's love and how if you put complete trust in him and his plan for your life, you will be blessed beyond measure. If any of you out there are struggling right now, please find comfort in my words when I tell you that God is truly hearing your prayers and cries and has a greater plan for your life than the dark days that you are in now. Open your bible and read his love letters to our universe and you will find comfort and healing in his open arms.

I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from my enemies. In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried to my God. He heard my voice out of His temple and my cry came before Him, even into His ears. -Psalm 18:3-6

"You can't be free if you don't reach for help. You can't love if you don't love yourself. There is hope when my faith runs out. I'm in better hands now. It's like the sun is shining when the pouring down. It's like my soul is flying though my feet are on the ground. Take this heart of mine because there is no doubt, I'm in better hands now." -Natalie Grant, In Better Hands Now

Today is a day of rest for us, but won't be too restful. We are all piling on to a bus designed for 20 people...did I mention our group is close to 40? As Garry said, "There are no driving laws in Haiti!" We have about a six hour drive to almost the boarder of the Dominican Republic where we will get on a boat for about 30 minutes to go to an island called Ile A Vache. When we get to Ile A Vache, we will get to spend the New Year with some locals and the next day we will get to hike to a village where we will have our last free clinic. Pray that we make it there alive... There are no driving laws in Haiti, this includes speed limits! :)

Looks pretty safe doesn't it?

Kelci wanting OUT! :)

Niiiiice Brian! He's a med student...we're weird!

Look at how happy we all look to be squashed like sardines for six hours!

Haha...Teasha was a little tired. She ended up drooling on Tim's shoulder!

The trash that washes up on the shore. The people just dump their trash into the ocean.

On the boat ride with Natalie and Kelci :)

Getting off the boat finally at Ile A Vache Island!
